Members of the Association are kindly informed that in compliance with the restrictions on mass gathering imposed by the government as a preventive measure against the spread of Covid-19, the 25th AGM of the Association required to be held before the 31st March,2020 in terms of Article 15(a) of the constitution of the Association has been postponed until the return of the country to normalcy.

Members were very much enthused to record their registration at 24th Annual General Meeting of SLPA retired staff officers' Association on 30th March,2019 from 9.30am. The Social and Lunch that followed provided an opportunity for members to interact with their ex-colleagues and renew camaraderie.
Two minutes silence was observed in memory of the deceased members as 1st item of Agenda.
Welcome address by the President to start and part of the gathering of more than 125 attendees at "Green Gardens”, Robert Gunawardena Mawatha, Kirulapone, Colombo 6.
A website was launched to fulfill the needful modern facility by the address of //portcom.slpa.lk/slparsoa/ and facilities were demonstrated to the participants.
Two resolutions were passed:
1) waive the enrollment fee refers in Article 11(d) for a period of six(6) months, allowing to apply membership who have not yet enrolled.
2) Eye Surgery Assistance of Rs. 15,000/= be treated as an out right payment.
Calypso music group encouraged participants during buffet lunch and entertainment.

The Association made a courtesy call on the Chairman, SLPA, Dr. Parkrama Dissanayake on 18th January,2018. The Chairman welcoming the delegation stated that he was happy to see the faces of many a former top management personnel who had contributed their might to bring the port to the present developed stage. He gave a brief account of the ongoing developments in the port and added that the expertise of those retired officials was welcome for the successful completion of those projects as most of them had been involved in them since the initial stages.
In view of the increased demand from members for more and more opportunities for them to interact with their ex-colleagues two outings were arranged during the year, one to the hinterland and the other to the coastal belt.Participation at the two outings was very encouraging. Not only members and their spouses, but in some cases their grand children too participated.
As usual, mid-day meals were provided to the inmates at the “Gamini Matha” Elders’ Home, Colombo 2 on 1st September, 2018 in memory of the deceased members of the Association. In addition to the meals, a much needed item to the Home, a Table with Six Chairs was also donated. A noteworthy feature was that some of participants came with Gift Parcels containing utility items which gesture was highly appreciated by the management of the institution.
Popular drama “Andarela” produced by the veteran dramatist, Dr. Jayalath Manoratne was staged at the Tower Hall, Maradana on 28th October, 2018 with the primary objective of strengthening the funds of the Association and secondarily as a means of providing an entertainment opportunity to the members.
