The recommenced
Tuticorin- Colombo ferry
service which began its
maiden voyage from India
yesterday, is scheduled
to dock at the Colombo
harbour this morning.
The Ceylon Shipping
Corporation (CSC)
yesterday said the
ferry, Scotia Prince
that could carry up to
1,044 passengers would
be making trips twice a
week. The trips that
would take up to 14
hours will complete a
280 mile voyage. The CSC
said that the ship is
scheduled to dock at the
Colombo harbour at 7.30
am today and that it
would make a return trip
on Friday (June 17). CSC
Executive Director, A.
D. K Chandradasa said
the ship had nine decks
and includes facilities
such a café, medical
services etc.
Chandradasa also said
that they are looking at
obtaining a ferry for
Sri Lanka.
The tickets for the
ferry are priced at USD
60 and visas should be
obtained through the
normal process.
