Bengal Tigar Line Celebrates 20 Years

Bengal Tiger Line celebrates 20 years

Bengal Tiger Line (BTL), one of the renowned pioneers of Common Feedering in the region and has over 20 vessels trading in the Indian Sub Continent. The company was also in existence for over two decades of difficult trading conditions.

Associated with introducing the 'Shuttle connection' concept, BTL connects Colombo port to eight destinations on weekly or twice weekly sailings.

Simultaneously celebrating one decade of local agency activity BTL Lanka's Managing Director and Sri Lankan Partner, Ranjan Ratnasingham, jointly hosted the event at the Waters Edge.

Chairman Sri Lanka Ports Authority, and CEO of South Asia Gateway Terminals, Saliya Wikramasuriya and Stephen Edkins presented mementoes to BTL for their 20th year.

Von der Heydt also gave away the longest outstanding staff award to Deputy General Manager Operations BTL Lanka Jude Benedict, who had been with BTL since its first call in Colombo.

BTL is part of the Schoeller Group, a large ship management and vessel owning operation with over 10,000 employees and interests in 5 hotels and other associated subsidiary industries.

New diversification to China in the East and Westward to the Red Sea are the first of several expansion initiatives the Line are pursuing.
